Hello! My name is Laura Anderson. I am originally from Omaha, NE, but I spent most of my childhood in Boone, IA. I am currently a junior at Drake University majoring in Broadcast News and Public Relations. I am also a member of the softball team here at Drake. As a student-athlete it has sparked my interest in sports broadcasting, as I would like to be a sports broadcaster in my future career. I strive to achieve my goals through my communication skills, leadership traits, and my ability to be held accountable for my responsibilities and commitments. I will use these traits along with my work ethic to help further myself and positively impact others in the sports broadcasting industry.
Family is the most important thing in my life. I have two sisters, Megan and Claire. Megan is currently in her first year at med school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Claire, my twin, is at Iowa State University majoring in Event Management and Public Relations. Claire is planning on graduating this May. My parents, Dave and Jill, are still currently living in Boone. My mom, Jill, is a physical therapist at the local hospital. My dad, Dave, is currently working in a hospital in Des Moines. We also have an amazing dog, Fritz, that is enjoying life with my parents in Boone.
Aside from school and softball, I love to keep myself busy! In my free time I like to hang out with my friends and family. We like to try new food around Des Moines, go shopping, watch movies or other events. I also love to workout and be active as another way to keep myself busy. Sports is one of the biggest passions in life. In my free time I love to watch all different sports and attend different sporting events. One of my favorite things about being a student-athlete is seeing and supporting fellow athletes and friends on all the different teams. Go Bulldogs!
